Feeling Much Better Now

I got extremely sick this past weekend. On Saturday, I had a small portion of Mashed Potatoes w/ Gravy, a small portion of Tuna Salad, 5-pieces of Chicken Nuggets, and a Pepsi Max during lunch when I was at work. I felt ill a bit after the lunch, but things did not kick in till I got home. Immediately after getting home, I stripped down and passed out in my bed. Oh, by the way, with the help of Noy and Fah, I reorganized the look of my room. As small as my studio is, we still had some space to make it roomier. Anyhow, Fah and I had a dinner date with her friends that evening. Needless to say, when she came over to pick me up, she found me knocked out. She woke me up, canceled our arrangements, and took me to Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital.

In the emergency room, the doctor that examined me looked and talked exactly like one of my cousins. They all spoke fluent English, and I was well-looked after for 2 hours. This was the first time that I had needles stuck in my hand, as they had to inject fluids to replenish what I Had lost earlier on in the evening. After two hours or so and only an approximately $100+ emergency room charge, I was at home and hydrating on the teethkiller, Gatorade. I was a trooper, as I am determined to get that $600 end of year bonus - I did not take a day off and went to work the next day. It seems rather silly that I would even think about this; however, now that I have decided to change my life and the lifestyle that I lead, I cannot allow my previous occupation to have a dramatic influence on the way I live now. Thus, money is money. Especially in this economic downturn, where we have all felt the damage of this crazy business ebb & tide, I have to be able to extract the value out of a mere 1 Thai Baht. It has been a couple of days now, and I am feeling so much better. I'm feeling so well that I will be going to the gym this evening.

Work has been coming along well, Mondays are my Wednesdays (since my days off are Thursdays and Fridays), and yesterday was actually okay. This week, Fah and I will be purchasing a car. There is a sick mark-up in auto prices here in Bangkok. For one of the cheapest Toyota Camrys, we can purchase an entry level C-Class Mercedes. Therefore, I feel kind of stuck, I know for sure Fah and I love the Camry and Accord. However, in terms of considering spending, we'll probably be purchasing a Civic. [sigh]... I do not like this feeling of being strapped for cash. Doh Well, bigger purchases awaits us - I'll keep you guys updated.

Right now, I am watching CNN International right now, and Deepak Chopra is talking about how the United States should have some responsibility for what happened in Mumbai last month. He also said that we need to be One Humanity. Yet, his views are all attacking the Muslim world. Now, I can say that I have limited knowledge and understanding of the Islamic religion. However, I do know that Chopra has made millions off of not just Americans, but of the world. He needs to keep writing his "I FEEL SORRY FOR MYSELF, I AM NOT STRONG, SO I NEED TO READ THIS NONSENSE" books, and stay out of politics.

"We must understand the context of terrorism." ~ Deepak Chopra
I have an idea - How about he do his part instead of stirring the pot? Take his millions and give to the Pakistanis? Think money can't buy love and support? I don't think so... On another note, from one of my students, I found out that I can hire a driver (who will not only drive, but take care of any gardening work on the outside of my future house [that Fah and I have yet to purchase]) and a maid (who not only will cook and be a nanny, but will also take care of anything inside of my future house [that Fah and I have yet to purchase]) for $10,000 Thai Baht per month. This equates to roughly $300+, which even rounding to $400 USD is an extreme bargain. I was under the notion that only the highly upperclass had drivers and homeworkers. However, after learning of this, I can see how many of my students have hired domestic workers.

CNNI doesn't stop shitting on America. They are now airing a special on Okinawa's elderly vs. youth - Because of obesity and heart-disease due to Fast Food and Western lifestyle, the younger people are dying young, while the elderly can live to 100 years old. The world hates us. [sigh]. When the economic times are good, nobody can get enough of Hollywood and Kobe Bryant. When corporate heads slip up and make a couple of errant mistakes, people begin to complain and gripe. Where is the love?

Fah and I will be taking our new car, once we buy it this week, on a roadtrip back to her home village for the Christmas holidays. The drive will be 6-7 hours. It has been four months or so since I last drove a car. Considering Thais drive on the same side as those on the otherside of the pond, this will be an adjustment for me. Time to buy some insurance.
